Job Summary:

SmithRx has grown exponentially over the past several years and is building out our finance organization to help propel the next phase of growth. This is an exciting time to join the SmithRx Finance team as a foundational team member.

A successful Senior Accountant will thrive on adhering to and creating structure, operational efficiencies and institutionalizing best practices to increase finance and related operations effectiveness.  This is a multidimensional role with a focus broadly and deeply across all areas of financial statement accounting and finance operations including processes, tool optimization, financial reporting and analysis, vendor and customer operations.  This role will report directly to the Controller.

What You will do:

In this role, you will manage day-to-day accounting, recurring and ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting, and customer operations, with an emphasis on A/R and Revenue related transactions.   Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Participate in the month-end close process including preparation of journal entries, general ledger imports, and account reconciliations to deliver timely and accurate financial results in accordance with US GAAP
  • Responsible for day to day A/R and revenue cycle accounting including cash application, reconciliation of customer accounts, collections, posting transactions, and the related research and communication to resolve internal and external discrepancies or inquiries. Assist with other Accounting and Treasury functions, including A/P and Cash Management
  • Work with internal organizations to enhance and refine invoicing and revenue accounting processes and procedures that can scale effectively as we grow
  • Assist with reporting deliverables including the preparation of biweekly revenue analytics, monthly variance analysis, management and U.S. GAAP reporting
  • Provide support for external financial statement and compliance audits, including preparation of requested documentation and schedules
  • Collaborate and partner cross functionally with Operations, Engineering, Customer Success and others to influence best practices, deliver on shared objectives, business process improvements, research and resolution of issues, and ensure accurate recording and reporting of financial transactions including customer billings and revenue recognition
  • Assist with ad-hoc assignments and projects including the implementation of new accounting systems and tools
  • Identify and participate in opportunities for process improvements including reducing inefficiencies to support the Company’s growing operations
  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) manual for accounting policies and procedures

What You will bring to SmithRx:

  • BS degree in Accounting, Finance or related field, CPA preferred
  • Big 4 or large regional CPA firm experience
  • 4+ years of accounting close and financial analysis experience, including strong technical accounting experience
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, or similar ERP software; Salesforce experience a big plus
  • Prior experience in system implementation/automation preferred
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment across all organizations, as well as independently
  • Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills to quickly identify, analyze and resolve complex accounting issues
  • High attention to detail with excellent organizational skills, and the ability to handle multiple projects and stakeholders
  • Problem solving mindset with ability to deep dive into issues and drive towards resolution
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, high-growth environment and the realities of a fast-growing company including uncertainty, learning while doing, and evolving job responsibilities
